Belgian Politician Personally Asks AKB48 to Perform in Home Country
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
The girls of AKB48 have traveled to New York, Japan, and throughout Asia but have yet to grace fans in Europe with a concert. Belgian politician Jean-Francois Istasse would like to change that. The honorary senator was laid up in a hospital in 2012, where he discovered the music of AKB48. Istasse thought the music was similar to French pop of the '60s and '70s and found inspiration in the message behind the lyrics.

Enthralled, Istasse wanted to bring the AKB48 to Belgium. He didn't stop at a phone call or an e-mail, instead he packed his bags and headed to Akihabara to plead his case. The idols' producer agreed to meet with him and by the end of their conference, the producers said they'd consider the idea.
Istasse is especially a fan of Haruka "Paruru" Shimazaki. The idol even thanked him for his support on Twitter.
Lovely Paruru !

Istasse appears to be trying out other Japanese idol groups, too. He posted a picture of Yui "Yuimetal" Mizuno of the rock group Baby Metal on Facebook last month.
